It was such a pleasure to meet Aaron and his family on Friday. They were seriously the sweetest people, and Aaron was a great model! He was so confident and comfortable (an no offence guys - but sometimes you aren't too comfortable in front of the camera!) Aaron goes to a really... and I mean REALLY small school! There are only 2 seniors this year! I know Aaron will do great after high school... thanks again for enduring the wind with me!

things are crazy here in the limeberry household! We got back from a WONDERFUL trip to florida, then we were off to THE Indy Area Vendor Showcase (which went great) on sunday, and then I have been at a 3 day photography workshop/conference until tomorrow! It has been so busy, but so great. I have been learning a lot, and meeting some GREAT people! I am really the luckiest person in the world!

hilary is a junior at Center Grove. I did her sister, meredith's, pictures when she was a senior... and I just love her family! She works at Texas Road House (oh those rolls... yum :)) and loves hanging out with her friends and family. She is also one of the sweetest girls and was up for anything!

Holly and her mom met me at the IMA on saturday. It was a beautiful day... a little chilly... but nice and sunny! She was so fun, I can't wait to get to know her better! Holly goes to Bishop Chatard, and just started a new job as a waitress at a pancake house (it's like we are supposed to be best friends... I LOOOOVE pancake houses!) And if you are in the mood for some fun music from bands no one has ever heard of... she is the girl to ask!! Maybe Holly can find me some more funky music for my website?!

Natalie goes to Roncalli High School and is a serious powerhouse on the basketball and volleyball courts. Her AAU basketball is 5th in the nation! She has 4 brothers and 2 sister... and is right snap-dab in the middle of them... I am so jealous (I love big families).

Olivia is a junior at Greenwood High School... her favorite color is turquoise (a personal favorite). She dances and plays tennis... among a long list of clubs. I had a great time hanging out with her!

Aamena's is super involved at Perry Meridian High School - she does the schools morning announcements, the creative writing club, link crew, student council... just to name a few! The word on the street is that she is a killer scrabble player too... :).

Nicolette and I met up at Southport High school for some quick shots. We took some inside the school, and then she braved the serious winds for a few outside. Luckily she didn't blow away :)

Nicolette goes to southport... and loves it. She runs cross country and track (although she likes CC better). Her favorite color is lime green (which is why I knew we would have an immediate connection) and spends her weekends at basketball or football games hanging out with her friends!

It might not look like a dress, but that is what the Military calls it! This was from a banquet my Senior year at West Point, and everyday since I entered that college in 2002, I've been in a military uniform. Right now, I'm going on 11 months (of 15) straight of the SAME OUTFIT--Army fatigues in Iraq. I can't wait to get home and wear my beautiful, feminine, amazing Amsale bridal gown this November. I'm extremely proud to be in the Army and to be serving our country on this deployment, but on my first night back at home, you better believe I'll be wearing some tall stilettos, red lipstick, and a flirty dress like the one on the right! Who says an Army girl can't be fashionable?!

Chelsea goes to Franklin Central High School and is the photo editor of her newspaper! She loves spending time with her family, and her boyfriend (who lives in Texas!). She hopes to go to Ball State to study photography and then wants to move somewhere very warm - after today, I can't say I don't blame her!!

fresh baked bran muffins...

i loooooove baking. i really love baking. lately I have been craving these bran muffins my mom makes, so last night I made some!! The recipe makes 6 dozen.... but they freeze great and you can just stick them in the microwave and - taadaa - nice warm muffins!

here is the recipe (for anyone who is interested):
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups shredded wheat (about 3 large biscuits)
2 cups Kelloggs All Bran
1 1/2 cups crisco melted
2 cups Boiling water
1 Quart buttermilk

mix all these well and then add...

4 beaten eggs
3 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
5 cups flour
5 tsp baking soda

bake at 375 for 15-18 min

super easy and super delicious

and then... smear some yummy butter on top and oooh la la... :)

so... I was snooping around etsy today and found the cutest cake topers.

These are done by Goose Grease, and are all custom... they have tons of different styles... so cute. They remind me of the nativity sets my grandmas paints, which I love!

These cute little love birds are done by Red Light Studio. They are all hand made with paper mache!

These are soooo detailed. I couldn't believe it. Subtle Details makes these and I just loooove the curls!!

Hello fabulous blog readers! 2009 has started with a bang! I am so excited but a little overwhelmed!! My weekends are almost all booked up until AUGUST!! So, the moral of this story is to call ASAP to schedule your sessions! I am so excited for what this year is going to bring. I have LOVED getting to know all of the new families, seniors and couples. It is so great. So if you want to chat, grab some coffee, or just watch some trashy reality TV shows (my guilty pleasure)... let me know! I would love to hang out. :)

it all started on Sept. 4, 2000... Matt and I had our first date! Even though we had gym class together, we really "met" at the mall (soooo highschool!) When i was going through some old stuff at my parent's house, I found the planner from my junior year.

I was so excited about our date... we played basketball outside, and watched "The Saint" in my parent's basement... the next day I told my best friend that I was going to marry him... and 9 years later... here we are. I am so lucky to have him, he is honestly my bestest friend and the most amazing dad. We have been through a lot together and we always come out smiling. I couldn't ask for a better guy to share my life with. Love you, Matt!

my good friend lindsey just turned me onto exercise tv and I am hooked! We get comcast cable, so it is part of our on demand, but you can also go to their website and download exercises and different plans. It is awesome! They have some great ones, and they are all like 20-30 min long. Any longer than that and I get distracted :). So... check it out and keep warm inside with a little exercise!

I also had a great picture of Matt doing a workout with me (in a ridiculous outfit) but it mysteriously got deleted off my camera! too bad for all the blog readers... but probably best for him. :)

a new kind of bridal show

I am so excited to announce that there is going to be a brand new bridal show in Indy this March, and yours truly will be the official photographer! It is going to be so much fun, they will be serving champagne and great treats and it benefits the Pink Envelope Project. Definitely check it out... it will be held at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel downtown and the 1st 100 bides will get some great swag bags!! There is more information here.

I must admit... I am a blog addict. I look at tons of blogs every day... and to be honest, it drives matt a little crazy. haha. ok, a lot crazy. Well, in an effort to cut down my "blogging" time, I have discovered google reader. You can put all your blogs on there, and it will let you know when they update with new info! It is great, no need to hunt through all of them, you can just take the time to look at the new posts!

Here is a little info about one of my favorite DJ's, Ryan Mennenga of Elite Entertainment. He does a great job and uses lighting and monograms to turn the reception room from nice to --- WOW! Definitely check him out if you are still looking for a DJ!

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your business...
My name is Ryan Mennenga, and I'm the owner of Elite Entertainment. We specialize in creating "extraordinary" weddings. We utilize custom lighting, linens, and unique DJ service to make the reception unique and memorable.

2. What made you get into the DJ business?
I've always been into music and planning events. I worked for a DJ company for a few years, gained a lot of experience, and then went out on my own.

3. What is the most memorable first dance you have witnessed?
I created a custom song for a bride and grooms first dance. The dance can be found on youtube.

4. Lighting can really make the reception special... can you tell us a little bit about how you go about designing the lighting set up?
The first thing we do is find out what the colors of the wedding are. From there, we try to find a lighting color that will compliment the decor. I always try to highlight columns, and accent architectural features that make the room appear taller. With the up-lighting I try to place them on flat wall services to get the best effect.

5. How many weddings do you do a year?
Last year we provided DJ, Lighting, or chair covers for about 150 weddings.

6. Do you do events other than weddings?
90% of our events are weddings. We also do corporate parties, birthdays, and anniversaries.

7. Do you ask the bride and groom to provide a "play list" for the night or how do you pick the songs?
I encourage couples to have an active part in the music that gets played during the reception. However, it's the DJ's job to "read the crowd", and play the right type of music at the right time to keep the dance floor packed.

8. How far in advance do you usually book a date?
Typically, we usually book six to nine months in advance. However, we're already receiving inquiries for the summer of 2010.

9. Anything else you would like to tell the lovely blog readers?
Wedding entertainment is probably the most overlooked part of a reception. Although it's usually only 5% of a wedding budget, it's what 80% of the guests will remember after the reception is over. Don't hire a DJ based solely on their rate. If you hire the cheapest DJ you can find, you will most likely regret the decision once the wedding is over.

I am so happy to announce a new addition to the lemongrass line-up. The portrait party!

Portrait parties are a great way to hang out with your family and friends and get some fabulous pictures taken at the same time! As the "host" you will be in charge of finding 6-10 families or groups that are interested in having their photos taken. Everyone will enjoy a reduced sitting fee ($35 a family/group) and will get a mini-session with me!! This is also an awesome time for hanging out with friends and checking out some fun lemongrass products.

from a bride who did not have a planner... I will say that they are a HUGE help and really make the day run smoothly! Here is a little info from Lindsey at Bustle Event Design. I am going to try to interview different people from the wedding industry... hopefully it will help some of you brides out...

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your business.
My name is Lindsey Scrivner and I am the owner of Bustle Event Design.
A little about me: I am your typical Type-A, detail-obsessed, perfectionist who loves to
help people do anything better or easier. If I hadn't gone to school for my Masters in
Business Administration (what spurred me to go into business for myself), I'd probably
be a wedding planner, free of charge! But since there are bills to pay, I ﬁgured that
didn't make much business sense... Thus, I created Bustle Event Design!
Bustle Event Design is a full-service event design company that offers completely

Aside from meeting and getting to know the bride & groom, my favorite part of
planning a wedding is selecting decoration elements that reﬂect the bride's & groom's
personalities. It is so cool to watch a blank, plain reception room/back yard/park
pavilion/wherever (!) turn into a beautiful, colorful space for the couple to celebrate
with their closest family & friends. The bonus is hearing a guest say, “This is SO
'Ashley & Chris'.” That means we really found a way to represent the couple's
personalities through the décor.

What are the 3 most important parts of a wedding (besides photography :))?
There are three must-have elements:
#1 – Engaged couple
#2 – Ofﬁciant
#3 – Location
I think it's important to remember that these three things are all you really need to get
married! Everything else is just extra. :)

What should be booked first?
The very ﬁrst thing you should do is decide the style of your wedding and THEN book
reception & ceremony locations that ﬁt your wedding style. You should book these two
locations as soon as possible after you get engaged (ideally, 10-12 months or more
before your wedding). You could even decide your wedding date AFTER you see the
schedules of your ceremony & reception locations.

How often do you meet with couples you are working with?
I always have a free initial consultation with the couple to make sure our personalities
mesh well prior to signing a contract. If the couple selects Complete or Partial
Planning, I will meet with them as often as they desire (in person, on the phone, via e-
mail). Once a month or every other month seems to work well until the month or two
before the wedding, when we'll probably need to meet more often. Month-of
Coordination consists of one face-to-face meeting to lay out all of the details, and then
unlimited e-mail contact until their wedding day. And of course, I will see all of my
couples at the rehearsal and all day on the day of the wedding.

Do you have a “team” that you work with?
I always work with a team on the day of the wedding. Depending on the size of the
wedding and the location, I will select an adequate number of coordination assistants
to help set up the ceremony & reception locations, be my eyes and ears throughout the
day or the wedding and run errands as needed. [Assistants are provided at no
additional planning cost to the couple.]

Do you do events other than weddings?
Although I specialize in weddings, I will plan any type of event. A lot of what I need to
know for wedding planning carries over to other types of events. I love planning
birthday parties and bridal/baby showers!

Yesterday was a big day at the Limeberry household! Bryson turned one! It was so exciting... we had a "safari party" with our close friends and family... full of tons of food, great party hats, and a crocodile cake! He even started walking yesterday! It was the perfect day!

It was an absolute pleasure to be able to see my good friend (and hero) Jennifer yesterday. Despite being -10 degrees out... the coldest it has been in over 10 years, we headed outside (not for long) to take some engagement pictures of her and Mike. Jen and I grew up in small town Illinois together, and have stayed in touch, even though I moved to Indianapolis 13 or so years ago. She is amazing. When I spent the semester in NYC, she was at West Point, so I took the train up to see her a few times. It was so fun!! Now, she is over in Iraq, keeping us safe, but will be home this summer!! I was so happy she decided to spend some of her precious 2 weeks home with me and my camera!! I haven't really met Mike before, but they are just the most perfect match. They have so much fun together, you can just tell. And they way he looks at her... oooh pure love!! :) Thanks guys... and I hope you have defrosted by now! xo

Today I wanted to pass along a little email my mom sent me. I am sure it is a mass email that everyone gets, and to be honest, I don't usually read them (sorry mom) but this one caught me... so take a peek at a few ways to have a great 2009...

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'
4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, and almonds.
6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
12. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

We recently signed up to receive Oberweis Dairy deliverys. It is amazing. When I was little, we used to get milk delivered in glass bottles, so I was totally pumped when they started delivering to our neighborhood!! So when I went outside and the Oberweis cooler was on our front step I was so excited!

And look at this nice "welcome kit" they sent the first time! It included skim milk, chocolate milk, fruit punch, iced tea, lemonade, butter, sour cream, and cottage cheese. Yummmmmy :-D! And of course the milk is hormone free and it just tastes better in a glass bottle!! You should check it out!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and rang in the new year with the family and friends. We had a great time. Matt was home and it was so nice to spend time together as a family!

2009 brings so many new and exciting things! I am so lucky to have a business that is growing so quickly, with clients that I just love. I am truly blessed.

As a part of my new years resolution, I will be blogging EVERY DAY in January... I know... hard to believe, but I hope to keep up with it. And as an incentive, if I miss a day, the first person to catch me will get a free portrait session! (So if you notice I miss a day... just be the first to leave a comment!)

It was such a joy to spend the day with Sandy, Jeff, and their family. It is the last wedding of the season for me, and it was perfect. Every little detail (down to the kleenax box in the bathroom) looked perfect. They threw an amazing party for their friends and family, and everyone had a great time. They had the most abundant candy table ever... the cutest little kids table with games, crayons, and even a Wii! And to say they had dancing would be the understatement of the year!! Sooooo much dancing! and not just swaying side to side... these people can dance! Enjoy the photo overload... too many good ones to choose from!

2009 is just around the corner and I can't wait! So many exciting new things are starting in 2009... be prepared to see a facelift on the old blog, as well as some new packages, album options, and even some "green" products (who doesn't want to help save the world!)

Also, the United Christmas Fund is still looking for people to adopt families... you can sign up until Dec. 14th, so go on there and sign up. They say expect to spend around $100 a person in the family... all you have to do is spend $100 and a family can have a christmas, isn't that awesome! I love doing guestbooks for couples. They include engagement pictures, and space for guests to sign, and leave some words of wisdom! I now have 2 different types of books available, so I wanted to share some pictures for everyone! These can also be used for other reasons (senior pictures, families, etc.), but they are great for weddings!

These albums come in TONS of different cover options. Leathers, suedes, fabrics, snakeskins, you name it, they have it... or something like it! They are 8x8 and have a 4x4 picture cut out. They have thick pages, like a board book. Love these!

These come with a custom, wrap-around cover that is really unique. They have thin, magazine style pages and are 10x10 or 5x5.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of those who serve and risk their lives every day for us. As most of you know, my husband, Matt is a soldier, and I am so unbelievably proud of him. He does so many great things, and is such a great soldier (and husband and father). I love him so much. And although he is gone a lot, and I miss him so much, I am so honored to be his wife and wouldn't change a thing!

Bryson and I took a little trip up to Michigan to visit my wonderful friend, Christine. We had a great time, and it was soooo beautiful! Fall was in full swing up there! But, we had to come back and get to work! I had a ton of emails to answer, so if I haven't gotten back to you, I am working on it and will ASAP!

I wanted to share something with everyone...

Every year, Greenwood Park Mall has "Simon Evening of Giving." Basically, it is on Sunday, Nov. 23rd, and the mall is open late to those who purchase tickets. There is a ton of family entertainment (like music, dancers, puppet show, santa, etc...) and the stores offer great discounts and offers! AND there is some free food!

The tickets are $10, and go to charity. If you purchase your tickets through me, $7 of the ticket price goes to Saint Elizabeth|Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Center. It is an amazing organization that I volunteer at every week. They do AWESOME work for families and kids, and I am so honored to be a part of it. The other $3 goes to the Simon Youth Foundation.

All tickets must be ordered by Nov. 18th, so email or give me a call ASAP to get your ticket! It is so fun, and you can get a good start on your holiday shopping - and support a great cause!

Sandy and Jeff were a great couple to wrap up a weekend full of engagement sessions! Their only requirements were to have something fun, different and to go somewhere no one else had gone before! So we found an awesome little gem full of amazing graffiti, some cool murals, and then we were off to a park they go to a lot for the beautiful sunset!

To say Barry and Monica are a fun couple would be an understatement! They were all about being goofy and fun and the day involved piggy back rides, laughing, and all around silliness. Their personality really shines through!

barry is a film maker, so when we found this old theater, we had to get pictures infront!

I just loved hanging out with Beth and Jason this weekend down at the IU campus, in Bloomington. The fall colors were everywhere, and they were soooo cute! The met at IU, where as Beth says, she knew immediately, but it took Jason 4 years to figure it out. You could tell they were so excited to be back at their alma mauder.

what to wear?

Welcome to a new series of topics... Q&A... for today, we are covering what to wear!

a lot of people ask me what to wear/what to dress their kids in for a photo shoot! so, I thought I would post some hints... this will also be linked on the right side of the blog... so if you even need to find it again... look there!

-- so the basics... wear what you feel comfortable in! That will always make the pictures look more natural and fun! With kids, keep them happy. If they hate something, don't make them wear it! Believe me, you may not have the outfit you think is perfect, but atleast you will have a smiling kid!

-- almost everyone goes straight for black or white. While that seems good in theory, it actually is not the best for photos. Whites seem to get too blown out, and blacks loose detail. Keep in mind... color is king! People don't have to be matchy-matchy... just cooridinated. For large groups, think of the color circle... pick 3 colors next to each other (a color family for those art lovers) and try to arrange outfits around that. Khaki shirt and white shirt is a little blah... bring some flavor and personality to your outfit!

here are some great color combo ideas:

also, bright primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) and be tricky, go with warmer, more earthy tones to be safe.

--look through your favorite magazine or ads. I love looking at gap ads... see what they are wearing, how they layer different things, and how they style the outfits. If you like it on the ad, you are going to like it on your self or your kid!

--bring a ski cap, cowboy hat, scarf, rainboots, a cute umbrella... anything you think will be fun, and help to bring out your personality. They also add a little variety to an outfit, and can change the look dramatically. A little pop of color goes a long way!

--the more the choices, the better. We may not use all of them, but we will have a variety to choose from! Like my mom always said... variety is the spice of life! Bring formal, comfy, funky, and everyday ware. Mix it up. You will be happier with the final product.

--for infants, simple is better. I am a big fan of the naked baby... but its also great to have a little white onesie, or just some basics. Fuzzy blankets, cute baskets, anything you can fit a little baby in is cute. Get them nice and cozy!

#13 :: hanging out with other photographers

I have been working on my 101 list and wanted to show you what happens when a couple photographers, and their cute kids, get together! I had a blast at the Trader Point Creamery in Zionsville. It was such a great spot, tons of animals, beautiful barns, and great fall light.

the boys were watching the cows... so cute!

he was so shy... looks like the lone ranger to me!

so I love to collect cameras, so I brought this one with me. The kids got a big kick out of "taking pictures" with it. He even would show me the picture on the back... and say cute things like "smile, come over here, now show me a silly face"... apparently they really do listen!

my fave of Bryson... looking at his little gut, and his cute little belly button sticking out... gosh I love this kid!

at the end, they wanted to "take pictures" of bryson, LOOOOVE the face she is making trying to get bryson to smile. priceless...

Laura is a sorority sister of mine... and I was so excited when she contacted me to do her wedding! It was a pleasure to hang out with her, and Chris, at the IMA. They were so patient and kind, and so loving! I thought they were the cutest! Here are a few of my favorites! I just can't wait for their wedding!

and we even got to play with their dog at the end! Such a good puppy!

cody is a senior! In between men's volleyball, tailgating, AP calculus, and work... Cody is a busy guy! Luckily, he took time to hang out with me and get his senior pictures taken! What a stud...
